Jupyter AI is an official open source extension that connects AI agents to computational notebooks in JupyterLab. It provides a native chat UI where you can collaborate with frontier AI models Claude, Gemini, Codex, Mistral with full access to notebook context. Agents can read/write files, execute terminal commands, interact with notebooks via a built-in MCP server, and use the %%ai magic command in any notebook environment.
